With holding interests in hundreds of apartment communities with over 50,000 housing units, AvalonBay is certainly an industy leader. Thus, when I came across a recent Units Magazine article entitled Online optimization: AvalonBay is harnessing the Internet's full marketing potential by using a well built Web site, apartment listing service and search engines that click, written by their Director of Marketing I knew better than to just turn to the next page. While not exactly an indusrty "white paper", the article was quite in depth and revealing. Among the gems covered, the author traced AvalonBay's recent eye-popping marketing evolution:

Study: Turning Prospects Into Renters

A recent SellPoint, Inc. study conducted by Coremetrics found a significant increase in product purchases after online shoppers viewed audio/video tours of products. The headline to their press release is a head-turner for anyone involved in marketing: Turning Shoppers Into Buyers
